The International Federation of Catholic Colleges and Universities (IFCU) announced that its General Assembly will be held in the United States this summer at Boston College, from July 30 - August 3. This meeting is not held every year and is moved among the continents when it is scheduled, making this a somewhat rare event and honor for the U.S.
A provisional program and registration information has now been released. Mark these dates on your calendar should you wish to gain a larger sense of the international landscape of Catholic higher education.
Discerning the Presidency: Thank you for your nominations!
ACCU is offering a two-day conference June 20-22, 2022 at Boston College for those who are seriously discerning a presidency in Catholic higher education. Thank you to those presidents who submitted over 35 nominations for this year's program! The two-day retreat will offer a more in-depth experience for participants than the typical leadership conference, allowing both group and one-on-one conversations about the job itself, preparing oneself for it, the search process, and about discerning the presidency as a vocational call.
Nominees will be notified via email in early April regarding the selection process.
Uniservitate 2022 Award for Service-Learning Promotion in Catholic Higher Education
On March 22nd, the Uniservitate 2022 Award for Service-Learning Promotion in Catholic Higher Education announced the acceptance of applications. The award recognizes the best educational experiences of service-learning developed by Catholic Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs), which integrate academic learning and concrete actions of service to the community. In addition, the award aims to make visible good practices that tend to the comprehensive education of students as responsible citizens, critical, creative and transformative protagonists of society. In this way, the Uniservitate Award intends to become a source of inspiration for the entire university world.
All applications must be submitted by May 2, 2022. The award will consider all the initiatives –even the most incipient– that have been launched between January 2019 and April 2022 within the framework of CHEIs from anywhere in the world. Save the Date & Call for Proposals: Vatican II and Catholic Higher Education Conference, October 13-15, 2022
Sacred Heart University celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council, as well as the 60th anniversary of the University’s founding in the spirit of Vatican II. Both the first session of Vatican II and Bishop Walter W. Curtis’ founding of Sacred Heart University took place during October 1962.
To celebrate this landmark moment in the history of Catholic higher education and the Catholic intellectual tradition, Sacred Heart University, sponsored by a grant from the Lilly Fellows Program, and supported by Sacred Heart University present "Vatican II and Catholic Higher Education: Leading Forward" Conference. The two-day conference will be held October 13-15, 2022 at Sacred Heart University. For additional information about the conference, please go to the conference site.
Call for Papers
The conference is looking for papers that explore, examine, and engage the importance of how we can best preserve, transmit, and cultivate the Catholic intellectual tradition and its ongoing development, moving it forward into a global, pluralistic 21st century. We invite papers that consider the importance of how our institutions of higher learning can foster a vital and robust Catholic identity and mission while at the same time embrace diversity and inclusion. We seek presentations that consider the value of the formation of our students - intellectual spiritual, and social – at our institutions of higher education. We seek papers that promote the project of Catholic higher education into the future.
Please send abstracts to SHU-VaticanIIConference@sacredheart.edu no later than April 4.
