Irish American Scholars

As a means of thanking our U.S. colleges and universities for hosting Study USA students, the Northern Ireland institutions offer a limited number of study places through the Irish American Scholars program each year. This program enables approximately 35 American students from Study USA-supporting colleges (Catholic, Methodist & Presbyterian) to spend one or two semesters at a university or college in Northern Ireland, tuition free.

Each fall, a representative from ACCU will contact our member schools who have offered Study USA scholarships, inviting them to submit up to three nominations of students who have a GPA of 3.2 or above. Upon completion of the application process, these students will be considered for placement at a Northern Ireland institution.

Unlike Study USA participants, the American students who are selected to be Irish American Scholars may opt for courses in any subject area available, for which tuition fees will be waived. Please note that American students must cover their own living and other costs while in Northern Ireland.

Please note that all application materials must be submitted by February 1 of the current academic year to be considered for study in Northern Ireland during the following academic year.
