What all trustees share is knowledge of and love for the mission of the Catholic institution that they help guide.

Trustee Development

Do your trustees understand Catholic mission and identity?

Though often superseded by urgent campus issues demanding trustee attention, understanding the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and the spirituality of the institution's founding charism is critical to successful governance of a Catholic college or university, as well as to selection of future presidents.

For this reason, ACCU is updating its trustee development program. In addition to making necessary changes to existing material to incorporate contemporary issues, we hope to utilize new technologies so that trustees can engage the content conveniently.

We need your assistance to ensure that the new program — "Keepers of the Mission" — effectively and efficiently informs trustees about Catholic mission and identity. ACCU is currently seeking feedback as we develop the next generation of materials for trustee orientation. Presidents and trustees from member institutions are invited to help us further shape this critical initiative for Catholic higher education by e-mailing ACCU at accu@accunet.org.
