Mission Leadership Institute
Join your colleagues July 30–August 2, 2017, at Lewis University to explore the complex and multi-layered roles of mission leaders in Catholic higher education.
Formerly known as the Mission Officer Institute, the ACCU Mission Leadership Institute is an intensive 4-day summer program designed to help new, emerging, and future mission leaders integrate and sustain mission on their campus. Facilitated by experienced mission officers and other experts in Catholic higher education, the Institute is also an excellent opportunity for mid-career and senior mission leaders to gain new perspectives, learn new skills, and refresh their spirit.
The Mission Leadership Institute features engaging presentations, workshops, and activities, panels of experts, inspiring speakers, as well as opportunities for prayer and worship. Participants will identify an "Action Project" to develop during the Institute and will return home with a clear strategy for a mission-based program, activity, or initiative.
The primary focus areas for the Institute reflect the varied and numerous duties of mission officers and other mission leaders in Catholic higher education. Among many roles, they are called to be formators, administrators, and catalysts. These roles can be complex and multilayered, from formation of faculty, administrators, and trustees, to aiding in faculty searches, fostering community relations, engaging the founding religious community or diocese, or assisting when controversial issues arise on campus. This Institute will advance effective ways to accomplish these tasks, as well as highlight the central role entrusted to participants to advance Catholic identity and university mission as envisaged by the founding local and religious community.
Not just for mission officers!
